Blurb: In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Review: I'm still not convinced this is an actual Dystopian novel, but what the hell, I just go with it. To be honest, Dystopian or fantasy…this was just a page-turner. I was hooked from the start and wanted to know what would happen next. The weird thing about this book was that I wasn't convinced about the world-building and had problems with the realistic factor. I can't read books that aren't somehow realistic or I could see myself doing it. That's why I'm not a Sci-Fi fan. I loved The Hunger Games, because I could see myself being a badass Robina Hood…anyways…back to this book. The point is that some moments were just unbelievable. The funny thing is that I couldn't care less. I suppose that was because I LOVED the characters. I liked how Tris developed in the story (although not always in a likeable way). And Four…do I have to say more?! He was just great. I loved the little romance factor the writer managed to weave through the story and I really wanted them to end up together. The story had enough action scenes in it, although not all believable. Was this as spectacular as the Hunger Games…no…BUT it was very entertaining and I really enjoyed it. If you like a fast-paced read, you definitely should check this one out.
